Frequently asked questions

What is the difference between an Event and a Project?

An Event is a one-time opportunity, which does not require a long term commitment (for example, packing boxes at a food pantry). A project, on the other hand, requires a longer term commitment by a volunteer (for example, a week over week mentorship).

What is the difference between a Cause and a Beneficiary?

A cause pertains to the wider mission of the organization, whereas a beneficiary reflects the recipient of the services of the organization.

How did you come up with the Causes and Beneficiaries on your website?

The causes and beneficiaries on our website are logically derived from filters on the three websites where we source our information: the set of causes and beneficiaries we created make sure there is a logic mapping between filters on these sourcing websites and Communify.

What websites do you pull data from?

The three websites where we pull data from are NY Cares, Volunteer Match, and NYC Service. You can read more here!

What if I can no longer attend an event?

No worries! Navigate to the hosting website and let them know you have to cancel.

If I think this project is awesome, and want to work with you all, what should I do?!
